“Earlier this week, Michael Mann, an atmospheric science professor at Penn State, signed a letter calling on universities to stop accepting research money from the fossil fuel industry.
"We believe this funding represents an inherent conflict of interest, is antithetical to universities’ core academic and social values, and supports industry greenwashing," said the letter, endorsed by Mann and over 500 other climate experts and academics.”

What a great and important idea. We not only need to be putting the science and pathway forward out there, we need to be talking to institutions who through inertia continue to support this destructive industry. I have an acquaintance who is working on de-carbonizing his retirement savings - getting push-back from his financial advisor who is still focused on traditional approach to investing which basically calls for maximizing investor return regardless of what activity the businesses invested in are pursuing. The advisor is basically a thoughtful person but stuck in the mode of the past.
